Light Up a Life
As members of Polish community here in Leicester we all miss our families and even if we visit them in Poland we do not have a lot of possibilities to visit the cemeteries to light up a candle there. Therefore the service mentioned below can be the unique opportunity for us – Polish people in Leicester – to be together as Poles and integrate with natives at the same time.
We believe that you are aware that LOROS is an independent local charity providing palliative care and support to around 2,500 people each year within Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. We provide specialised and respite care for those over eighteen with complex problems who have a life-limiting or terminal illness such as cancer or Motor Neurone Disease. LOROS charges no fees for its services, which are available to all local people based upon medical need regardless of their ethnicity or faith. The charity relies upon the generosity and support of local people, organisations and businesses, which enables us to raise the £4.5 million needed each year to provide our valued services to patients and their families. Our services include a 31-bed hospice, outpatient services, day therapy and a team of nurses in the community. We are proud that 90% of the money donated to LOROS goes directly towards patient care.
We would like to introduce to you our annual service Light Up a Life. We wish to invite you to join us in remembering loved ones this Christmas by sponsoring a light on our special Christmas tree. The names of our loved ones will be exposed in the special book available in our chapel. Please click the picture for the further details.
