Polish Heritage Day comes back to Leicester with its third edition, and we are cordially inviting you to join us for a celebration of Polish heritage and culture.

Polish Heritage and Culture
11 May 2019, 3.00pm- 6.00pm
Walk Museum, Victorian Art Gallery

JOIN THE CELEBRATION

Polish Heritage Day aims to promote openness, appreciation, and better understanding between the Polish diaspora and the wider British society.

This year, we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the formal establishment of Polish–British diplomatic relations and the centenary of the renewal of Polish–British bilateral relations.

The Project’s logo is based on the design of the white-and-red chequerboard – a symbol painted on the Polish airplanes during the Battle of Britain 1940, in which Polish pilots constituted the second largest Allied contingent after the British.

The programme includes:

  • Exhibition: ‘The Polish pilots who flew in the Battle of Britain’, Imperial War Museum
  • Musical performance by Choir 'Halka’
  • Talk by Sir Dermot Turing, the acclaimed author and nephew of famous Alan Turing, who will share his insight about the contribution of Polish cryptographers to breaking the Enigma code, the meaning of their story in today’s world, and his latest book, „X, Y & Z: The Real Story of How Enigma Was Broken”
  • Heritage Presentations
  • Displays about the Polish Community in Leicestershire
  • Polish Cuisine

Join us and celebrate our shared history and culture!

Looking forward to seeing you there!
