Saltimbanco by Cirque du Soleil

This summer Cirque du Soleil comes to Great Britain and Ireland with the show Saltimbanco to impress the audience and sparkle some magic into ordinary lives.

The humble beginnings of Cirque du Soleil was when a group of street performers in Quebec, Canada decided to create a new venue for their passion. Guy Laliberté guided them to use its creativity and innovation to redefine the entertainment landscape and thrill audiences all around the world.

The group successfully managed to sustain a reputation for unrivalled creativity and eye popping shows and celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2009. The theme of the celebration was „the dream continues”.

Awards winning Cirque du Soleil is known globally for its innovative shows. Its performers come from nearly forty different countries and they work under the supervision of around twenty trainers to follow the performer-training programmes.

From the Italian Saltimbanco – „saltare in banco” literally means to jump on a bench. The show explores the urban experience in all its myriad forms: the people, the hustle and bustle of the street and the towering heights of skyscrapers. Saltimbanco takes spectators on an allegorical and acrobatic journey into the heart of the city.

Saltimbanco is a Cirque du Soleil signature show inspired by the urban fabric of the metropolis and its colourful inhabitants. Decidedly baroque in its visual expression, the show’s eclectic cast of characters draws spectators into a fanciful, dreamlike world, an imaginary city where diversity is purposeful. Saltimbanco has already been seen by over 11 million of people around the globe.
